The American Dream: It's Not My Dream

The American Dream is not this American's Dream.

Comfort is essentially the definition of the American Dream paired with debt, constant work, and a never ending cyclical cycle of discontentment - constantly searching for more.

Our culture tells us as human beings to continue to consume more, to work hard, to buy expensive things and purchase big homes. Ever actually stopped to wonder why the suicide rate is so high? Why the amount of people suffering from depression and anxiety continues to hit a new world high every year? Why the American Debt Crisis is the largest in global history? The data backs up the following: the world has put unhealthy expectations on us as human beings. There are so many situations that we are expected to fit a mold, to fall into place, and to check the boxes laid out for us by society. This causes a lot of us to feel dead. No amount of stuff, no amount of travel, no amount of savings or friends will actually make us feel free. The only way we will truly feel free is through Jesus Christ . Knowing that He is truly all we need is a very freeing feeling, once you experience that, there will be no going back.

This is why it is said: "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." Ephesians 5:14

Don't forget your purpose on this earth, do not forget that you are made in the image of an infinite God that loves you unconditionally.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
